On what should’ve been my happiest day, my mom’s shocking outburst at the altar stopped my wedding cold—and saved me from a lifetime of regret. Mom, Carla, had always been blunt. “He’s hiding something,” she warned about Chris.
I ignored her, blinded by love. He was charming, affectionate, and made me feel seen. When he proposed under fairy lights, I said yes without hesitation.
Despite Mom’s unease and my best friend Jenna growing distant, I pushed ahead with wedding plans. Then, at the altar, just as the vows were about to begin, Mom’s voice rang out:

Gasps filled the garden.

My world collapsed.
I dropped my bouquet and walked out. Chris tried to follow, but security stopped him. I left with Mom in silence.
