I had lined up a first date at this excellent coffee shop using a dating app. I get there and recognize the barista from college.
I was the only person in the shop at the time, so we spoke awkwardly.
It gets to the point where my date is 20 minutes late and has not responded to my messages. I’m sweating. Profusely.
I’m humiliated since I’m probably getting stood up in front of someone who knows the majority of my pals. I feel so humiliated.
Then my date walks in. He stands there for a bit before walking straight back out the door.
Barista: “Wait, was that her?”
Me: “Yup.”
Barista: “What an idiot.”That comment made things slightly better.

My dear lady friend and I had been spending a lot of time together, and she had even invited me to spend the weekend at her grandparents’ place. I assumed she was interested in me by then, so I believed it was a good moment to ask her out.
I went to her apartment with a gift of hot Cheetos (her favorite snack) and told her how I felt about her right there on her doorstep.
She said she considered me a friend, almost like a brother. I was so nervous that my entire mouth was dry and I could hardly talk. I didn’t see her for quite some time after that.

Years ago, I was on a flight with my girlfriend’s parents.
My girlfriend couldn’t obtain a seat next to me so she sat directly behind me. During the flight, I thought I’d surprise her and placed my hand back on her knee. I slowly extended it up her thigh, till I heard giggling.
I looked behind me through the seats and saw my hand on the leg of the guy next to her.
