Ariana, 32, and up until last week, I thought I had everything: a wonderful life, a loving spouse, and great friends.
Wow, I was wrong!
It all started when Tom, my husband, told me about a big work event coming up. He works for a posh company that enjoys throwing extravagant parties to commemorate accomplishments and make plans for the future.
Tom exclaimed, “Honey, this is huge,” his eyes sparkling with glee. “Assuming I nail this show, I could get that advancement we’ve been expecting!
” I was overjoyed for him.
That’s incredible, baby!
When exactly is it? In two weeks, at the downtown Grandview Hotel.
Tom spent the majority of the following two weeks working. Every night, he’d arrive home late, exhausted but unflinching.
Before falling asleep, he would give me a once-over and say, “Just perfecting my presentation.
” I tried to be the supportive wife that all men wanted.
I provided him with the meals he preferred, cleaned up after myself, and bid him farewell each morning with a happy kiss. The day before the event, I was anxious.
Sincerely, I was more anxious than he was. I felt like a young child once more, one who had a big test the next morning.
Even for dinner, I made his favorite carbonara spaghetti and ironed his suit and shirt perfectly.
On the day of the event, I got up early to make him breakfast.
I remarked, “You’re going to blow their minds,” as I instructed him to straighten his tie. Tom gave me a distracted smile.
Thank you, honey. I must move quickly to avoid being late.
As he dashed out the door, I was extremely proud of him.
I had no idea that my universe would end in disaster.
When I found Tom’s laptop an hour later while cleaning, it was on the coffee table. My heart stopped.
His presentation was made on that laptop! Oh no,” I said softly.
When he realizes he forgot it, he will panic.
“I took the laptop out of my bag without thinking about it and went to the Grandview Hotel.
I would save him by getting there just in time to give his priceless presentation. However, as I entered the hotel, I noticed something.

My partner commented. A terrible suspicion began to grow as I began to fade away.
Could you check to see if Tom Johnson has reserved a room? ” Linda nodded after tapping on her computer.
