Daniel had raised Lily since she was seven, stepping in when her biological father, Craig, drifted in and out of her life. He was there for every scraped knee, every heartbreak, and every milestone. He paid for her education, her first car, and, when she got engaged, her entire wedding.
To him, Lily was his daughter, blood or not, and he was proud to stand by her side on her big day. The room fell silent.
Lily’s joy curdled into fury. She accused him of bitterness, her voice breaking as she stormed out. Eric hesitated, torn, before following her.
